The Answer Is in Our Pant's Pocket

Image
Look around you, how many people are using their phones? These days, technologies are taking a bigger place in our life. Almost every teenager have cell phones, we use them quite oftenly, but the only place we are not usually allow to use them it is class. I really do not know if it is a good option, because smart phones and tablets affect the development of the brain, but it is also a good way to keep teen at school by making courses interesting and interactive. First of all, I think that smart phones and tablet affect the development of the brain, many studies proved it. “ The Radiological Society of North America researcher’s found that young people with a so-called internet and smartphone addition actually demonstrated imbalances in brain chemistry compared to a control group.” You can develop an addiction, but also there can be damage on your brain. Most of people do not know about those effects and bringing them to class could be worse, our brains need pauses. Accordi

Zero Waste Christmas

As we know Christmas is a great time to be with your family, but it is also the worst period for the environment.   Each year, this is the worst period for food waste. According to  Commercialwaste , during those family parties, all over the country (in UK), we buy almost: 370 million mince pies 250 million pints of lager and beer 35 million bottles of wine 10 million turkeys It is 80% more food than the rest of the year. Worse, during this period, we put in waste bins 230,000 tons of food. It is the equivalent of 2 million turkeys.   Each year we also have this tradition of wrapping gifts with beautiful wrapping paper. But do you know that if we put every single piece of paper together this year we would have enough to wrap around the New Jersey Island. It is 227 000 miles of packaging that we will throw to the garbage this year.   There are many solutions to our problem, there they are:   If you want to use an eco-friendly solution for wrapping paper, you can use

The Person Behind the Screen

Hello everyone! My name is Arianne and I am from Canada, more particularly from the province of Quebec. My first language is French and to improve my English I am doing this blog for my class. We are doing this project all over the year. This blog does not really have a main theme because I have too many interests in many different topics. By example, during the summer, I played soccer and I refereed soccer’s games. I also like to read a lot, to cook and to draw. All the yearlong, I am going to try to publish different post on different topics and about different events in my life or I will simply publish about subjects I do care about. This year I am in 5 th secondary (11 th grade) in MYP (middle year program) at the Des Pionniers School. Have fun reading   my blog!

Two weeks ago, there was a great event at the National Park of Mauricie, Les Défis du Parc ! During the weekend, runners, cyclists and triathletes, from different countries, have come to participate to this big event. There were many different challenges, for beginners to experts, and each participant choose the best way to achieve their goals. It motivates people to practice sports and to increase their capacity, to remain healthy. There is a winter version too!  It last three days, so primary students (grade 1 to 6) can also participate with their classmates. The winter event gathers many disciplines, like cross-country skiing, running, snowshoes, triathlon and more. If you want to inscribe yourself or the whole family to one of those challenges, you can visit their web site:  http://lesdefis.ca/ For many years already, I am a volunteer during those weekends. This year we were over 200 volunteers, but we always need more help! So if you want t
